HardwareNxt was founded in 2020 by myself and 4 fellow Mechanical Engineering students with the goal of providing quality engineering education through virtual lectures and remote engineering projects. Our first summer cohort consisted of over 120 students from 7 countries and over 70 schools.
Our Summer 2020 cohort consisted of 6 weeks of Mechanical Engineering curriculum, focusing on topics such as Product Design, Manufacturing, and Tolerance. For our Summer 2021 cohort, HardwareNxt will be adding a dedicated Electrical Engineering track and lengthen the program to 10 weeks.
HardwareNxt consists of small group mentorship, weekly lectures presented by us mentors, and workshops by professional engineers. Throughout the course of the program, mechanical and electrical fellows will translate what they learn into developing a device that solves a problem or need they have identified. Take a look at the amazing designs of our 2020 cohort fellows:
Expanded program to onboard 3 electrical engineers and work with them to develop an electrical engineering track focused on circuit design and analysis
Secured funding for 2021 cohort and collaborate with sponsor (to be made public soon!) to improve cohort curriculum by turning their virtual designs into physical products
Designed a touchless sanitizer dispenser with various materials and manufacturing methods to illustrate product design features and topics during lectures
Manage big picture scope by driving meetings, delegating work, and providing resources or assistance
Directly Mentored 15 students in the design of a manufacturable device for working professionals
